The Gaia Energy Centre atDelabole, North Cornwall www.gaiaenergy.co.uk Back to Keith's Eden Site
Sadly this will be closed for good from 1st October 2004
In one hour the Earth receives more energy from the Sun than mankind uses in a whole year. The centre demonstrate the many ways of harnessing this energy.
Things to see and do at the centre. Parking is free, after you enter the main doors you are greeted with a smart and airy foyer.
After paying for entry, you are give an automated audio headset that interacts with the exhibits. Be careful where you put your Coke can down, as they tend to end up like this! Recycled.
The giant steel and glass water wheel is something special to see, gracefully turning.
Electric cars to be seen at the centre. The 120 mph Lotus Elise Electric is only there for a while.
Stephen testing out one of the electric scooters on show.
Lots of hands on exhibits around the hall to push and press. Outside are the real stars, the wind generators, you can walk right up to them and see how big and powerful they really are.
Time for a pasty in the cafe and watch the wind generators and sit on the space age seating.
Call in at the shop and take home your very own wind generator or something for the garden.
The kit of parts to build a wind generator, when build didn't put SWEB out of business but it did give hours of pleasure flashing LEDS and buzzing buzzers.
